SUNNYCREST ROAD EXTENSION
The completion date for the construction of Sunnycrest Road has been extended while BC Hydro servicing design is completed. Please expect minor delays. We appologize for any inconvenience.

OUTDOOR BURNING PROHIBITED
Just a reminder to all residents that all outdoor burning is prohibited without a valid permit. This includes the Towns beaches. For further information please contact Bylaw Enforcement at the Town office 604-886-2274.
RECREATIONAL WATER LEASE
The Town of Gibsons has been granted a lease by the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands including all tidal waters adjacent to the shoreline where it touches the lands of the Town, extending 305 meters (1,000 ft) from the shore.
The Council has developed a new bylaw to assist with the enhancement of public safety and the protection of the sensitive environmental areas within this recreational water lease. The main focus of the bylaw is intended to provide local residents and visiting boaters with a clear understanding and protocol for travel and moorage within the area. BEAR MANAGEMENT
Let’s do our part to not attract bears into the Town.
Remember all garbage must be in a wildlife resistant container with a tight fitting lid. Garbage bags are unacceptable. Do not put out your garbage before 7 a.m. the day of pickup. The Bylaw Department is making weekly patrols; anyone found using a non-wildlife resistant container can face a fine of $100.00. If you have any questions please call Bylaw Enforcement at the Town office 604-886-2274.
BOARD OF VARIANCE - EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
The Town of Gibsons is looking for a volunteer interested in serving on the Board of Variance.
The Board of Variance is an independent body established by Bylaw to consider applications for minor variances to the Town’s Zoning Bylaw. The Board consists of 3 members appointed by the Council. The term of the appointment is 3 years and meetings are at the call of the Chair.

TREE REMOVAL ON PUBLIC LAND
The Town of Gibsons policy regarding the removal of trees on public lands has been updated with the addition of:
- Reference and referral to the Planning Department, as the removal of trees is considered an alteration of land and part of the development process;
- Reference and referral to other agencies, such as the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, when trees are sited within riparian areas;
- The addition of a map showing areas where additional consultation and approval are a requirement; and,
- The addition of a 50 meter neighbourhood notification requirement.
The policy and map will soon be available on the website.
BUILDING A NEW RCMP FACILITY IN GIBSONS
The Town of Gibsons is working with the RCMP and Province of British Columbia to bring a new policing facility to the community by September 2011.
