Boards, statutory committees and task forces help create policies in specialized areas.

A summary of the areas of responsibility and contact information for each Council Committee is provided below. Detailed terms of reference, agendas and minutes are available from the links above.

Corporate Services Committee (Currently Held in Abeyance)
The Corporate Services Committee is a standing committee of Council that examines reviews and makes recommendations to Council on issues of a financial and/or administrative nature.  Matters referred to the Committee are primarily related to: Corporate financial matters; Departmental budgets; Financial plan; Capital forecasting; Financial policy and procedures; Annual audited financial statements; Monthly financial reports; Monthly ICBC and Driver Licensing reports; Administrative policy and procedures; Insurance policies and issues concerning risk management; Quality assurance of service provisions; Website and information technologies and other issues as determined by the Chair.

Infrastructure Services Committee (Currently Held in Abeyance)
The Infrastructure Services Committee is a standing committee of Council that examines reviews and makes recommendations to Council on issues regarding public works, municipal utilities and buildings.  The Committee will make recommendations and draft resolutions for consideration by Council on the following: Roads; Sidewalks; Garbage collection; Water Distribution; Wastewater/Storm water Issues; Street Lighting; Signage, Public buildings; and other issues as determined by the Chair.

Parks and Community Services (Currently Held in Abeyance)
The Parks & Community Services Committee is a standing committee of Council that examines reviews and makes recommendations to Council on issues related to parks development and maintenance, as well as the socio economic health and well being of the community.  The Committee will make recommendations and draft resolutions for consideration by Council regarding the following issues: Parks Maintenance/Development: Trail Maintenance, Cultural Services, Community Events; To promote positive approaches to social economic challenges in the community; To foster and encourage public awareness of social issues; To monitor services, programs and facilities to maximize participation be citizens; To hear and respond to requests made by the public regarding issues concerning: Youth and elderly of the community, Persons with disabilities, Health of the community, Housing and employment; To research and advocate or refer issues determined by Committee members based on resources available and other issues as determined by the Chair.

Planning Committee (Currently Held in Abeyance)
The Planning Committee is a standing committee of Council that examines reviews and makes recommendations to Council on issues of a planning nature.  The Planning Committee will make recommendations and draft resolutions for consideration by Council on the following: Participation in a Regional Growth Strategy, Interpretation, writing and revision of the Official Community Plan (OCP), the Zoning Bylaw and Subdivision Bylaw; Community and Local planning; Parks and Trails planning; OCP amendment applications; Rezoning application; Development Permit and Development Variance Permit applications; Subdivision applications; Harbour Authority issues; Affordable Housing issues; Agricultural Land Reserve removal applications; and other issues as determined by the Chair.

Gospel Rock Refinement Working Committee (No Longer Meeting)
The Gospel Rock Refinement working committee is a select committee of Council that shall: Review the nieghbourhood plan options prepared by HB Lanarc for the lands referred to as Gospel Rock; Meet with the individual members of Gospel Rock Select Committee to receive their thoughts and vision of the previous process and options; Prepare refined option(s) for review by Council and the public; Garner additional technical support as necessary ie: economic, environmental, geo tech and infrastructure advice to establish a recommended option to be incorporated into the official community plan; and recommend a process to inform and receive comment from the general public on the work and recommendations of this committee through out this mandate.
