The Residential Cross Connection Control (backflow prevention) and water meter installation will occur on all single family and multi-residential properties within the Town of Gibsons commencing on February 16, 2009.

As part of the installation process, water service will need to be turned off. Water interruptions will be restricted to Mon. – Sat. between 8:30am and 4:30pm. The goal is a maximum one hour water interruption for each home; most will be less than 10 minutes.

Neptune will be mailing booklets to the owner in each neighbourhood area prior to commencement of the installations. Installation will occur between one and four weeks after you receive your booklet.

New water meter boxes that were installed in lawns have had the grass reinstated with either new sod or grass seed. Please take a moment to give this replanted area a drink of water during hot dry weather to help the grass to regrow in the disturbed areas.

MULTI-FAMILY INSTALLATIONS

The installation of meters and backflow prevention devices for the single family properties within the Town of Gibsons is nearing completion. The Town’s contractor, Neptune Technology Group (Canada) Ltd, will now be focussing on the installation of meters and backflow prevention devices for multi-family properties.

Each multi-family complex will have a single installation completed by Neptune. Notification will be provided to each multi-family complex regarding the expected date of their installation. In most cases, the length of the water interruption will not exceed one hour and in fact will likely be much shorter than this.

The Town will be providing information to stratas and other multi-family properties with some options for distributing a single water invoice; this information will be based on staff research of multi-family developments in other municipalities.
