Snow Removal and Ice Control |

The Town of Gibsons Public Works Department is responsible for snow removal and ice control on Town streets and roads, within the confines of the snow removal policy. We monitor the weather and road conditions and make decisions based on Town policies.
Streets and Roads A policy was written to identify the purpose and priorities for snow removal and ice control. The purpose identified in the policy is: “To provide for the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians within the Town of Gibsons by ensuring that snow and ice control operations are carried out in a timely manner in accordance with priorities identified by Council and included as Schedule A of the Policy.”
Sidewalks As per Town of Gibsons Bylaw 702, Section 4.9, Subsection 4.9.1
"4.9.1 A person being the Owner or occupier of real property shall remove snow, ice and rubbish from any sidewalk bordering such real property and from the roof and any other part of a structure adjacent to or abutting or any portion of the highway, not later than 10:00 a.m. of the day after the snow, ice or rubbish was deposited thereon".
The Town of Gibsons will be responsible for snow removal from sidewalks bordering municipal owned and operated property. This removal will not commence until directed by the Director of Municipal Operations and/or Public Works Supervisor and/or their designate. All sidewalks will be cleared within 24 hours of the termination of snowfall.
